Privacy Notice
Software: Owl Lattice, including the Waclaw Edition (the “Owl”).
Publisher: ZGX Collective LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“ZGX,” “we,” “us”).
1. About This Notice
ZGX Collective LLC publishes the Owl. This notice explains how the Owl Lattice desktop application, and our purchase and email-update processes, handle information. It is written to be read by a person, not just a lawyer.
This notice covers: the Owl software, our optional email-update list, your purchase/license with ZGX, inquiries about custom commissioned builds (our Custom Owling Services), and limited project materials you voluntarily provide for scoping or performing those services.
This notice does not cover: the third-party AI services you reach through the Owl, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and others. Those are governed by each provider’s own privacy policy.
2. Our Core Principle: Local-First
The Owl is a local desktop application. Your prompts, notes, clips, files, configuration, and session data are stored on your own device, encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. They never leave your machine through the Owl, and we have no server that receives them.
The Owl’s interface is technically restricted so that it cannot transmit your content to us. We do not operate a prompt server, an analytics pipeline, or a cloud-sync backend. There is no account system and no “phone home.”
When you log in to an AI provider through the Owl, the login happens in a dedicated window that communicates directly with that provider. Your username and password are entered on the provider’s own sign-in page, they are not routed through, intercepted by, or stored by the Owl.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
To be clear about what we do not do, we do not:
- collect your prompts, notes, files, or AI conversations;
- run usage analytics, tracking, or behavioral profiling;
- use automatic crash, telemetry, or error-reporting collection;
- build advertising profiles or serve ads; or
- sell or rent your personal information.
4. Information the App Transmits, and What We May Receive
The Owl makes only one outbound network connection of its own, and it is operational: an update check. Anything else described below happens only because you choose to buy the Owl, send us feedback, sign up for email updates, or inquire about or commission a custom build. Custom-service communications are separate from the desktop application’s local-first data path.
4.1 Software update check
On launch, the Owl reads a small public file from our update page to see whether a newer version is available, and shows a notification if so. This is a standard HTTPS request that sends no user content, no device identifiers, and no tracking parameters, and sets no cookies. There is no remote code execution, the app simply compares version numbers.
4.2 Bug reports and feedback you choose to send
If you choose to send a bug report or feedback, the Owl opens your email program so you can email us. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and you control exactly what the message contains.
4.3 Standard licensing and purchase, handled by LemonSqueezy
The Owl does not contact a licensing server in order to run. The Owl is a one-time purchase; you buy the app once and own that version outright. There is no subscription, no recurring billing, and no renewal. When you buy the Owl, LemonSqueezy acts as Merchant of Record and handles your payment, invoicing, tax, and transaction data under its own privacy policy. For standard license purchases, ZGX does not receive or store your card number, billing address, or payment credentials — only what is needed to fulfill your order, such as a license key and the delivery email address. Custom Owling Services are billed differently; see Section 4.5.
4.4 Custom Owling inquiries and projects
We offer commissioned custom builds of the Owl (“Custom Owling”). If you inquire about a custom build, you choose what to send us — typically your business contact information, company or team information, and a high-level description of what you want built. An initial inquiry should not include confidential information.
If we proceed to scoping or a build together, you may also choose to share project requirements, workflow notes, screenshots, mockups, sample files, branding assets, technical-environment details, support communications, and other materials needed to evaluate, scope, quote, build, test, deliver, document, or support the custom work. Substantive scoping and project-material review occur only under signed confidentiality and intellectual-property terms.
We use Custom Owling inquiry and project information only to evaluate feasibility, scope the project, prepare quotes or statements of work, communicate with you, build, configure, test, deliver, document, and support the work, enforce the applicable agreements, maintain business records, and meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations. We do not use it for advertising or behavioral profiling, we do not sell it, and we do not add you to our email-update list unless you separately sign up for it.
Please do not include confidential information in an initial inquiry. Unless a signed agreement expressly allows it, never send us passwords, credentials, API keys, authentication tokens, payment-card numbers, protected health information, education records, children’s data, biometric data, privileged legal materials, trade secrets belonging to third parties, classified information, export-controlled data, government-sensitive information, regulated financial information, or other data subject to a special legal or compliance regime. We may refuse, quarantine, delete, or return materials that appear to violate this restriction — the agreements for custom work spell out what can be shared and how it is protected.
Custom builds stay local-first. Every Custom Edition we build preserves the same local-first, clean-hands architecture described in this notice: your prompts, notes, clips, files, configuration, session data, and AI conversations stay on your device, encrypted at rest, and the application does not transmit them to us. We do not build Custom Editions that add telemetry, usage analytics, cloud sync, prompt relay, remote logging of user content, or ZGX-managed AI-processing backends.
4.5 Custom Owling billing, invoiced directly by ZGX
Custom Owling Services are not sold through LemonSqueezy. ZGX invoices Custom Owling customers directly through Found, our business banking and invoicing platform. Found is a financial technology company, not a bank; banking services are provided by its partner bank. Privacy policy: https://found.com/legal/privacy
What we collect. For direct billing we collect and keep business billing information: your legal or business name, billing address and contact details, tax documentation exchanged for the engagement, invoices, and payment and remittance records. If you pay an invoice by card or bank transfer, your payment details are processed by Found and its payment partners under Found’s own privacy policy — ZGX never receives or stores your card number or bank credentials.
How we use it. We use this billing information only to invoice, receive, and reconcile payment for Custom Owling Services, maintain business records, and meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations, including information-return reporting where required by law. We do not use it for advertising or behavioral profiling, and we do not sell it. Invoice, payment, and tax records are retained as long as required for those purposes.
5. How We Use the Limited Information We Receive
We use the limited operational information above only to:
- deliver and support your license;
- provide software updates and security fixes;
- respond to your support requests and bug reports;
- evaluate, scope, and deliver Custom Owling projects for customers who commission them;
- send email updates to people who have signed up for them;
- prevent fraud or abuse and enforce our terms; and
- comply with legal, accounting, and tax obligations.
We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
6. Third-Party AI Services
When you use Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini through the Owl, you interact directly with those providers. Your prompts, files, and responses flow between you and them, governed by their privacy policies — not ours. The Owl adds no additional data-collection, tracking, or transmission layer on top of what those providers already do.
Because the Owl uses standard browser views, your existing provider privacy settings, including any AI-training opt-outs, carry over exactly as they would in any Chromium-based browser.
Review each provider’s privacy policy:
- Anthropic (Claude): https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
- OpenAI (ChatGPT): https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/
- Google (Gemini): https://policies.google.com/privacy
Technical transparency: to help provider login and service pages work correctly inside the application, the Owl presents a standard browser identification string (a “user-agent”). This is a technical compatibility setting, not data collection — it is the same kind of identifier every web browser sends.
7. Service Providers We Share Limited Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only with providers that help us operate the Owl:
- LemonSqueezy — payment processing, tax handling, and license management as Merchant of Record, and hosting of our email-update sign-up form. Privacy policy: https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
- GitHub — hosting our public update file and the update downloads you choose to open. Privacy policy: https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement
- Found — business banking and invoicing platform used to issue invoices and receive payments for Custom Owling Services (standard license purchases are not processed through Found). Privacy policy: https://found.com/legal/privacy
Custom Owling tooling. If we use additional providers for custom services — such as e-signature, invoicing, secure file transfer, project management, support, or professional advisers — we will list them in the applicable agreement or update this notice before relying on them for client project materials.
8. Email Updates (Our Newsletter)
We offer an optional email-update list (our newsletter) where you can ask to receive launch news, early-access information, and product updates about the Owl. Signing up is entirely voluntary, and nothing about the desktop application requires it. It is also separate from buying the Owl — you can purchase the app without joining the list, and join the list without buying the app.
Where sign-up happens. Our email-update form is hosted by LemonSqueezy, on a page served from their infrastructure. When you enter your email address there, it is submitted directly to LemonSqueezy and stored in our LemonSqueezy dashboard.
What we collect. Your email address, and the IP address LemonSqueezy records at the moment you sign up. The IP address is kept as a record of your consent to receive email — proof of when and from where you opted in. We do not ask for your name, and we set no tracking pixels or third-party analytics scripts of our own.
Legal basis. We send email updates on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting your address through the sign-up form. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see below), and withdrawing it does not affect your right to buy, use, or keep using the Owl.
What we use it for. Exactly one thing — sending you updates and early-access information about the Owl. We do not send marketing for unrelated products, we do not share your address with third parties, and we do not sell email lists. Ever.
How long we keep it. Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you later become a customer, your purchase records are handled separately under Section 4.3 and Section 9.
How to unsubscribe or request deletion. Every email update includes a working unsubscribe link. You can also contact us at contact@owllattice.com to unsubscribe, to ask what we have on file, or to have your address deleted entirely. We action reasonable requests within a reasonable timeframe.
What this does not change about the app. Joining the email-update list has no connection to the desktop application’s local-first architecture. If and when you install the Owl, your installation does not “phone home” to associate itself with your email address. The two systems are completely separate.
9. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
Where your data lives. Your content stays on your device, encrypted at rest. Provider logins are handled through dedicated windows and stored locally as standard session cookies. Our website and email-update sign-up are separate surfaces from the Owl and do not share data with it.
Honest limits of encryption. Local encryption protects against casual disk snooping and accidental exposure. It does not guarantee protection against malware, a compromised operating-system account, anyone with access to your unlocked device, or other attacks outside the app’s control. The encryption key is derived from your own machine and is never transmitted anywhere — which also means your stored data is not portable between machines by design.
Retention.
- On your device: your local data stays until you delete it, for example using “Clear the Nest,” or uninstall the Owl. Separately kept backups or exports persist until you remove them.
- With us / our providers: we and LemonSqueezy keep purchase and license records as needed to support your license and meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations. For Custom Owling Services, ZGX keeps invoice, payment, and tax records, issued and received through Found, as required for legal, accounting, and tax purposes. Your email-update address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Custom Owling inquiry and project records are kept as needed to evaluate or perform the work, enforce the applicable agreements, support the delivered work, preserve legal rights, and meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations; project materials may be returned or deleted earlier under the applicable NDA or Build Agreement.
10. Your Choices and Controls
- Your content. You control it on your device. “Clear the Nest” clears local Owl data; backups and exports may persist separately until you remove them.
- Bug reports. Optional. Do not include anything you do not want to share with us.
- Custom Owling inquiries. Optional. Do not include confidential information in an initial inquiry; project materials are shared only under a signed agreement.
- Email updates. Optional. Sign up or unsubscribe at any time; unsubscribing has no effect on your license or your use of the Owl.
- Provider data. Manage your data with each AI provider directly through its own settings and policies.
- Updates. The Owl checks for updates automatically on launch by reading a public file; this sends no personal content and cannot be used to identify you.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Because the Owl is local-first, most of “your data” never reaches us — it stays on your device or with the AI providers, and you control it there directly.
For the limited information we or LemonSqueezy hold, such as your email-update (newsletter) address, order and license details, and any Custom Owling inquiry or project records, depending on where you live you may have specific rights:
- EU / UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection; you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA / CPRA): rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined.
- Other U.S. states / regions: similar rights may apply depending on your location.
To exercise a right or ask a question, contact us at contact@owllattice.com. We may need to verify your identity. For standard-license purchase data, your request may be directed to LemonSqueezy as Merchant of Record. For Custom Owling billing records, contact ZGX directly — we hold those invoice and payment records ourselves. For your email-update address specifically, see Section 8. We honor reasonable requests regardless of your jurisdiction.
12. International Users and Data Transfers
ZGX is located in the United States, and LemonSqueezy and the AI providers may process information in various countries, including the United States. The desktop application stores all data locally on your device and does not transmit personal data to any server, so the typical cross-border transfer concerns associated with cloud services do not apply to the app itself.
For email-update (newsletter) data, your email address and the IP address recorded at sign-up are processed and stored by LemonSqueezy, which operates infrastructure in multiple jurisdictions. By signing up, you consent to this processing by LemonSqueezy and ZGX for the purposes described in Section 8.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Owl is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information — through either the desktop application or the email-update sign-up form (which collects only a voluntarily submitted email address, plus the IP address our email provider records for consent). If you believe a child under 16 has signed up, contact us at the email address below and we will remove their information promptly. The AI providers have their own age requirements, which you should review.
14. Changes to This Notice
We may update this notice from time to time. We will change the version and effective date, and for material changes we will surface notice through the Software or our website.
